This coffee has a fruity taste like apples and a gentle almond flavor on the aftertaste. It is well-balanced and the smooth texture makes it even sweeter.
This coffee is made by collecting and refining cherries grown by small farmers around Volcano Agua in Antigua, the ancient capital of Guatemala. There are more than 500 small producers with small plots on the slopes of Volcano Agua.
The region's fertile volcanic soil and cool climate provide ideal conditions for growing one of the world's most prized coffees. The name "Veja" means "beautiful" in Spanish, and "Carmona" comes from the name "San Bartolomé Carmona" given to the area by the Spanish settlers in the 16th century.
In this region, not only the traditional Bourbon variety is grown, but also varieties such as Caturra and Catuai. After harvesting the cherries when they are ripe, the farmers transport them to the Bellavista Mill, located at the foot of the mountain.
The producers involved in this coffee are passionate about improving quality and are willing to make great efforts. At the Beja Carmona farm, under the guidance of a farm engineer, basic measures such as nutritional management, tissue inspection, and pest control are thoroughly implemented. Beja Carmona is a coffee that truly expresses the identity of Antigua coffee.
