Hello, we are Jiro Sakanoue from FUGLEN ASAKUSA and Ryosuke Yokoyama from FUGLEN COFFEE ROASTERS.
We participated in the "World of Coffee (WOC)" held at the Bella Center in Copenhagen for three days from June 27th to 29th.
WOC is the leading international exhibition for the specialty coffee industry, showcasing the latest products and technologies as well as workshops, seminars, competitions and networking events, bringing together coffee professionals and enthusiasts.
Exhibitors included many coffee-related companies, roasters, roasting machine manufacturers, coffee-related equipment manufacturers, and farms, and the FUGLEN COFFEE ROASTERS OSLO team also exhibited at the event.
The whole team worked hard to make FUGLEN coffee widely known.
At the FUGLEN booth, well-known people such as Honduran coffee producer Benjamin Paz (COE2022,2024 1st Place) and Exclusive Coffees from Costa Rica brewed coffee themselves.
It's rare to have the opportunity to have someone from a farm actually brew the coffee, so we were excited to try it.
What was impressive was how enthusiastically Benjamin engaged in conversation with each person he handed coffee to.

We actually served coffee at the FUGLEN booth, and the immediate reaction from customers to the cups we handed them out was something we could only experience overseas!
Some people who liked the coffee said things like, "Can I have another cup?", and there were also people at the Fuglen booth who wanted to try different beans, so they asked things like, "I'd like to try this one too," and "Can you brew this bean for me?"
I felt that everyone really loved coffee and was actively sharing that love.
Once the people at each booth and the customers started talking, they just couldn't stop (laughs).
Each person spoke at length about their feelings about coffee, and the atmosphere was very energetic.
Among the exhibitors were CAPADOCIA Farm, Nordic Approach, and other companies that we are very familiar with, and they were collaborating with a variety of roasters to create a lively event.
It is rare to have the opportunity to meet the person who actually produces coffee on a farm, so being able to have a long chat with him was a very valuable experience for us.
I also worked as a guest barista at the booth of OATLY, Sweden's first oat milk brand, providing milk beverages (cappuccinos and lattes) made with oat milk.
The base Fuglen espresso was made with Geisha (Benjamin Paz) from Honduras, which was luxurious!
At the KINTO booth, which is well known in Japan, the Fuglen Gimlet, a cocktail popular at FUGLEN, was served in KINTO's double-walled glass.
I was surprised because I never imagined that cocktails would be served at WOC. Also, since the guests had been drinking a lot of coffee at the venue all day, the cocktails seemed fresh and many people enjoyed them!

At the WORLD COFFEE ROASTING CHAMPIONSHIP held during the WOC, Ludvik, the head roaster at FUGLEN COFFEE ROASTERS OSLO, represented Norway, and we all cheered him on as a team.
Although they did not win any prizes, they put in a great performance as representatives of Norway!

It was a valuable and energetic opportunity to talk directly with people from companies that I usually work with and staff from a famous European coffee roaster. The Bella Center was filled with a wonderful space that is unique to Scandinavia.

I attended the Standart x Mahlkonig anniversary party held during WOC.
The place was packed with people with incredible energy and the excitement was continuing well past midnight, and we, despite our jet lag, were just as keen to have fun!
I was able to talk to people who work in various places related to coffee, and I once again realized how wonderful the work we do is.
On the way back from the party, we were lucky enough to meet Marysabel Caballero and Moises Herrera from El Pantanal Farm in Honduras on the roadside.
He was a very cheerful and generous person. We were able to directly convey our gratitude to him for always producing such great coffee!
