This micro-lot coffee from Guatemala features a smooth mouthfeel and prominent sweetness, making it exceptionally enjoyable to drink.
It offers a complex flavor profile ranging from the sweetness of tropical fruits like banana and papaya to the refreshing fruitiness of apricot and red apple. The standout characteristic is the rich sweetness reminiscent of molasses, which gently and quietly spreads from the first sip to the aftertaste, adding elegance and tranquility to the entire cup. It is a perfectly balanced coffee, ideal for the increasingly chilly season.
In 1958, renowned physician Jorge Vides Molina established Finca La Bolsa with great passion, marking the beginning of coffee cultivation for the Vides family, now spanning three generations. After Don Jorge’s passing in 1995, his daughter Maria Elena and son Renardo Ovalle took over the management.
In 2002, the farm’s coffee achieved runner-up in the first-ever Cup of Excellence competition held in Guatemala. This success led to a focus on producing specialty micro-lots. The farm adopted new production methods, carefully selecting quality by lot and varietal, and began direct trade with roasters and coffee buyers.
The family prioritizes sustainability and traceability, ensuring meticulous quality control from harvest to processing and export. Finca Cuevitas, spanning 19.5 hectares, cultivates the Pacas and San Ramon varietals.
San Ramon Varietal:
The San Ramon varietal is a natural mutation of Typica. It is named after the place where it was discovered—San Ramon, a major agricultural city in Costa Rica, located approximately 27 miles (about 43 kilometers) northeast of Alajuela.
