Fuglen Asakusa 5th Anniversary Staff Interview
On September 21, 2018, we opened our second store in Japan, FUGLEN ASAKUSA, right near Sensoji Temple, one of Tokyo's most popular tourist attractions.
Tomorrow, September 21st (Thursday), FUGLEN ASAKUSA will celebrate its 5th anniversary!
This time, to commemorate our 5th anniversary, we interviewed the staff who have supported FUGLEN ASAKUSA since its opening .

--The Asakusa store is finally celebrating its 5th anniversary! Mr. Sakanoue, I believe you joined the company when the Asakusa store opened, so please tell us your thoughts now.
I honestly feel happy!
And we are filled with gratitude to everyone who has visited Fuglen Asakusa so far!
When we first opened (2018), there was a period of calm, but after a little while, we started to have many people visiting us every day, including people from the Asakusa area as well as domestic and international tourists. .
I still remember the bustle, energy, and excitement of the Asakusa store during the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
Next year's Tokyo Olympics are going to be amazing! However, due to the effects of the global pandemic, Asakusa has entered an unimaginable period where there are no foreign tourists or even people walking around the city.
Even so, when people from the neighborhood came to visit, we received happy comments like, ``Thank you for opening your store.''
Since last year, as the pandemic has come to an end, tourists have returned to Asakusa.
Asakusa is now more crowded than it was in 2019, and I can't hide my surprise.
--Please tell us about a particularly memorable episode from the past five years.
The opening party of the Asakusa store is especially memorable!
I had just joined the company and didn't know what was right from the left, but on the day of the event, many people came and Mr. Einar (owner of Fuglen Oslo), Mr. Kenji (representative of Fuglen Tokyo), and the manager at the time held a Kagami biraki ceremony. I remember being really excited.
A great store is about to open! I was so excited!
A few months later, a bar manager came to Japan from Norway, and he taught us how to make cocktails, and we started having live jazz during bar time, and the bar time at the Asakusa store became lively.
At that time, he was so free-spirited that I thought, ``This is Norwegian style?'' I was shocked! lol
--Are there any events at your store on September 21st (Thursday), your 5th anniversary?
We will prepare a special coffee set using the rare variety of Geisha!
We also sell coffee beans.
Quantities for both are limited, so hurry up!
We will also have the cocktail "Asakusa Punch" that we serve every year on our anniversary!
"Asakusa Punch" is a cocktail that combines Norway's traditional distilled spirit Aquavit with Asakusa's representative Denki Bran.

Our store is located in Asakusa, Tokyo.
There are many tourist attractions in Tokyo nearby, such as Sensoji Temple, Kaminarimon, Hanayashiki, and the Sky Tree, which is just a short walk away.
We would be happy if you could stop by our Asakusa store and enjoy Fugren's coffee and Norwegian waffles, which can only be tasted at the Asakusa store, when you visit these famous places!
Norwegian Waffles has a wide selection of sweet and savory items.
For first-timers, we recommend the menu that uses Norway's national food, "brown cheese"!
Autumn has arrived, so the pumpkin waffles that we currently offer seasonal are also great!
I also like the scenery and atmosphere of the store, where a variety of people, including locals and tourists from Japan and abroad, spend their time in their own way.

--What kind of store do you want the Asakusa store to be from now on?
We would like to continue to provide coffee and other products and services that satisfy our customers, no matter what time of day or which staff member is present.
